Alternate Arts at Madras: April 14 & 15 – Chennai Events: Theater by Gnani Sankaran Group: Pareeksha Play

On 15th april 2012 sunday at krishna gana sabha, griffith road t.nagar near panagal park. 

Pareeskha the first alternate theatre group of Chennai , has performed the tamil plays of Indira Parthasarathy, Ambai, Praabanjan,Aranthai Naryanan, Sujatha, Gnani and also adaptations of plays by Badal sircar, Vijay tendulkar, Harold Pinter, J.B.Priestley and bertolt Brecht.

‘Vattam’ is adapted and directed by Gnani into Tamil from the german playwright Bertolt Brecht’s Caucasian chalk circle. The play has a huge cast of 20 actors narrating a story starting in times of chieftains to modern days. Muniyamma, a local thief turned judge delivers verdict on who is the rightful owner of a baby – the biological mother Duraiyamma or the foster mother Kanniyamma.The play Gnani  is a socio-political spoof touching on issues of women empowerment, tenants’ right over land, the role of the army, court doctors, architects,etc.,

சென்னையின் முதல் மாற்று நாடக இயக்கமான பரீக்‌ஷா 1978லிருந்து இதுவரை இந்திரா பார்த்தசாரதி, அம்பை, பிரபஞ்சன், அறந்தை நாராயனன், சுஜாதா, ஞாநி, முதலானோர் நாடகங்களையும் பாதல் சர்க்கார், விஜய் டெண்டுல்கர்,ஹெரால்ட் பிண்ட்டர், பிரீஸ்ட்லீ,பெர்டோல்ட் பிரெக்ட் ஆகியோரின் படைப்புகளின் தமிழ் வடிவங்களையும் நிகழ்த்தி வந்திருக்கிறது.

ஜெர்மன் நாடகாசிரியர் பிரெக்ட்டின் காகேசியன் சாக் சர்க்கிள் நாடகத்தை தமிழுக்கேற்ற விதத்தில் மாற்றியமைத்து ஞாநி எழுதி இயக்கும் நாடகமே வட்டம். துரைகள் காலம் முதல் புரட்சி காலம் வரையிலான கதையை 20க்கும் மேற்பட்ட நடிகர்களுடன் சொல்கிறது இந்த நாடகம். ஒரு குழந்தை யாருக்கு சொந்தம் – பெற்ற அன்னை துரையம்மாவுக்கா, வளர்த்த அன்னை கன்னியம்மாவுக்கா என்பதை திருடியாக இருந்து நீதிபதியாக மாறிய முனியம்மா எப்படி தீர்மானிக்கிறாள் என்பதே கதை. பெண்களுக்கான் சம உரிமை, நிலத்தின் மீதான உழவரின் உரிமை, ராணுவம் முதலிய ஆட்சி இயந்திரங்களின் பங்கு எல்லாவற்றையும் பற்றி சமூக அரசியல் தொனியில் எள்ளலுடன் சொல்கிறது வட்டம்.
